Once the system detects frustration, it adjusts its response to be more sympathetic and slower-paced, offers clear next steps without pushing the customer forward, and escalates to a human agent if the emotional signal persists despite the system's efforts. The limitation is that emotional AI detects patterns based on training data, which means it works best in situations where human emotional patterns are clear and cultural context is consistent (Agerra, 2025). In cross-cultural interactions or situations where a customer's emotional expression does not match typical patterns, the system can misinterpret the situation.
