Nscale to Acquire Anyscale for $1.65 Billion

AI cloud provider Nscale said on July 30 it will acquire software startup Anyscale, a deal that combines vertically integrated GPU infrastructure with tools that help companies run complex AI workloads across large clusters of computers. Bloomberg News reported the price at about $1.65 billion, citing a person familiar with the matter. Nscale declined to disclose financial terms.

Anyscale, based in San Francisco, makes software that organizes and manages AI tasks so they run smoothly across many machines simultaneously. The company generated 70 percent sequential revenue growth in its most recent quarter, according to its co-founders. Its entire team of about 200 people across the United States, Europe, and India will join Nscale. Anyscale will continue operating under its own brand and serving existing customers.

Nscale, founded in 2024, is a so-called neocloud that owns its data centres, GPUs, and software stack rather than renting them. The acquisition adds a software layer that could attract more customers by making it easier to deploy and manage AI at scale. Nscale competes with other GPU cloud providers such as CoreWeave and Nebius Group, both of which have expanded rapidly as demand for AI compute outpaces supply.

The deal reflects a broader trend in AI infrastructure. Companies that once focused on raw computing power are now acquiring software assets to offer smoother developer experiences and lock in enterprise clients. By absorbing Anyscale, Nscale gains a toolset that addresses a persistent headache for AI teams: coordinating distributed workloads without wasting expensive GPU hours. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of this year.
