A controversial provision in WeTransfer's Terms of Service that suggested user-uploaded files might be used to train AI models has been removed. The provision, which was supposed to go into force on August 8, infuriated journalists, artists, and other creators who thought their work may be stolen without their consent.
WeTransfer responded by elaborating that:
It has never licensed files to outside parties or utilised them to train AI.
All references to AI and machine learning have been eliminated from its vocabulary.
The only purpose of user content will be to run and enhance the service.
This action confirms the company's dedication to upholding user trust and honouring creative ownership.
