Nvidia Launches Cosmos Reason AI to Boost Robot Planning and Decision-Making

Nvidia has introduced Cosmos Reason AI, a new reasoning vision language model designed to give robots a human-like understanding of the physical world. The 7 billion parameter open and customizable model is built specifically for robotics and physical-world AI.
Unlike earlier models such as OpenAI’s CLIP, which excel at recognizing objects and patterns but struggle with complex or ambiguous tasks, Cosmos Reason uses prior knowledge, physics understanding, and common sense to break down instructions, adapt to unfamiliar environments, and make deliberate, step-by-step decisions. Nvidia says this will help robots plan more effectively and act with greater precision.
