Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to invest “hundreds of billions of dollars” in building massive AI data centers as part of the company’s push toward achieving superintelligence—AI systems more capable than humans.
The initiative includes:
Launching the Prometheus supercluster in 2026, with future clusters like Hyperion scaling up to 5GW capacity.
A projected $70 billion in AI infrastructure spending this year alone.
Formation of Meta Superintelligence Labs, led by Scale AI’s Alexandr Wang and Nat Friedman.
Zuckerberg emphasized Meta’s strong ad revenue base ($165B in 2024) enables bold, long-term AI bets. This marks one of the largest infrastructure commitments in the AI race so far.
