Perplexity AI has launched Comet, a new AI-powered browser designed to challenge Google Chrome. Built on Chromium, Comet features a built-in assistant that can summarize articles, fill forms, book tickets, and even recall past browsing — all through natural language.
Key features include:
Agentic browsing for task automation
Sidebar AI assistant for real-time help
Privacy-first design with on-device processing
Context awareness across sessions
Currently in beta and priced at $200/month for Max subscribers, Comet is also in talks with OEMs to pre-install the browser on mobile devices.
With ambitions to become the “next killer app,” Comet marks a bold step toward intelligent, task-driven web browsing.
